Our violence risk assessment clinic provides services for various psychiatry departments across the province for patients who are hospitalized or being followed by an external clinic.

We provide consultation services (with a referral from the attending psychiatrist – evaluations and recommendations) to the external clinic or via telehealth.
The clinic’s mission is to recommend treatment avenues to health teams who find themselves at a clinical impasse with patients who present with an axis I disorder associated with an issue of repeated crimes, and whose dangerousness is difficult to evaluate or manage.

Note : No consultation request accepted by fax without prior contact with the team.

Exclusion criteria :

      • Intellectual disability without any other psychiatric issue associated with axis I
      • Dementia without any other psychiatric issue associated with axis I
      • Brain injury (behavioural issues, 2nd organic cause)
      • Direct requests from the 1st line (CLSC)
      • Requests for placement/lodging
      • Direct requests from Emergency without psychiatric care
