Research Support

The Statistics Consultation Group (SCG) is composed of statisticians who have a specialized university degree and vast experience in quantitative research methods. The SCG offers Research Centre researchers and students, as well as personnel at the Institut, a range of consultancy services on the latest and most advanced statistical techniques.

The SCG’s key mission is to help the Institut’s Research Centre researchers to come up with quantitative analysis plans, perform complex statistical analyses, write grant applications, and ensure the quality of statistics in their publications. These services are geared towards analyses that require a high level of statistics expertise. For simple analyses (test-t, khi-deux, ANOVA simple), SCG is happy to answer students’ questions so they can conduct their own statistical analyses. Researchers’ basic statistical analyses can be provided to Research Centre students under the supervision of SCG statisticians.

SCG provides services and expertise to Institut personnel for projects that require data management or analysis. For example, SCG contributes to the “Trajectories and Programming” project for the statistical analysis of data from the Dundrum tool, as well as setting up data collection. SCG can also help with survey projects (review of questionnaires and data analysis), as well as scientific presentations, meetings/committees, and any other internal needs that require statistical expertise. Once or twice per year, SCG can also provide training on introduction to data analysis using Excel. Other training can also be offered on request.

The mission of Fondation Pinel is to support the Institut national de psychiatrie légale Philippe-Pinel and contribute to improving the health of patients by financing clinical and research structuring projects through underwriting activities that help promote the Institut and the field of forensic psychiatry.
